Double Stack
Design for Better Living + Community

Description:
The site is a city block adjacent to Colorado Blvd., which was a main gateway that once linked Pasadena to Hollywood and a part of the Historic Route 66. Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock is a forgotten relic, what was once active with roadside shops has now has become a suburban community that supports Pasadena and Downtown Los Angeles due to the development of the 210 Freeway and the national freeway system. By dissecting a residential block to create a better solution for urban living and economics, this project attempts an urban intervention to help rebuild an regenerate commerce in the area.

Site Location:
34° 8'16.99"N, 118°12'8.51"W
5034 N Vincent Ave. 90041
Los Angeles, California

Design intent:
In developing an prototypical urban block, the problem arises in addressing project frontally
from both the street, and rear public parking. While the units themselves are an exploration into stacking and creating more suitable living conditions than the typical single story type units. Each unit has their own private terrace with access to the shared roof space.
